Teaching Seminars

God has opened the door for me to share His truth concerning
Community Development with many people, especially in Africa.
The format of this teaching has been to run small seminars, usually
lasting 3-7 days at local churches. They entail the following:

Equipping people to work in any community using Biblical Community
Development principles. These principles include:

1. Identifying the world-view of the target group ie. animist, atheist,
humanist etc. Our world-view defines our value system from which
decisions are made in the 8 main areas of society. For example:
Family, Education, Government, Religion etc.

2."God's Heart for the Poor & Needy" based on scripture from the Old
and New Testaments. This provides an outline of response for society
to the needy plus
their mutual responsibility.

3. Community Development Dynamics: How to enter a community
the right way....
ie. Building relationships
Going as a learner & a servant
Avoiding paternalism & dependency
Gaining the trust of the people so projects can be planned and done by the local people
Assessing the strengths as well as the needs of the group
Planning & evaluating projects
Identifying the right people to partner with

Overall, the schools or seminars provide an excellent insight into
development dynamics as well as tools to lay a solid foundation.

El Shammah Church

In 2002 I met Pastor Kumbukani Phiri in Worcester. He asked me to
visit Z1mbabwe and introduced me to several churches and
organizations that have a desire to see their communities impacted
in a loving, effective way with practical teachings.

In the future I will visit communities to encourage them to seek God's
help in enabling them to address their own needs. Partly through
utilizing local resources and also through networking with those who
have skills and abilities that will benefit the community.

YWAM (Youth With a Mission)

I have been involved with YWAM for over 15 years.

YWAM is an international movement of Christians working to help
make a difference in a needy world. There are over 10,000 volunteer
staff based in about 600 locations in 130 countries. In addition, tens
of thousands more people from scores of nations are involved on a
short-term basis each year
